Welcome! Our Church Orchestra is made up of musicians who love the Lord and seek to use the gifts and talents that He gave them to glorify their Creator.  The Church Orchestra  is the primary instrumental ensemble that leads in worship each Sunday morning and evening as well as for other special events.  While musical skill and ability is important for each member to possess (Ps. 33:3), we believe that the attitude of the heart is superior.  If a musician can play or sing perfectly without a heart of sacrifice and servitude, it is but noise (1 Cor. 13:1).  We strive to do everything with excellence (Col. 3:23), knowing that God demands our best.  If you are an instrumentalist and are interested in learning more about or joining the Church Orchestra, contact Dawson Hull the Minister of Instrumental Music, or Gary Morton. You may also call the SBC music office at (478) 923-7101.

How to Join the Orchestra:

The Church Orchestra is open to skilled instrumentalists, 11th grade and up, by audition / interview.  High School juniors and seniors are permitted to join the Church Orchestra, provided they have at least two years experience and are active and faithful in the Generations Orchestra.  Also, adults who feel their playing skills are “rusty” may get back into shape by playing in the Generations Orchestra.

Weekly Rehearsal and Service Schedule:
Rehearsals are held each Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the Worship Center.

Sunday Schedule:
10:15 A.M. Meet in the Orchestra Rehearsal Room for warm up, tuning, and prayer

10:30 A.M. Morning Worship Service
6:15 P.M. Meet in the Worship Center to tune
6:30 P.M. Evening Worship Service

Attendance:
Your faithfulness in attendance is of utmost importance.  With even one instrumentalist out, the Church Orchestra cannot be at its full potential.  When parts are missing, it leaves holes in the musical texture.  We ask that all members of any ensemble of the music ministry be faithful and commit to attend all services, rehearsals, concerts, and other events.  If you must be out, please notify us ahead of time by marking your name on the Sign Out Sheet in the Orchestra Rehearsal Room and contacting the director as it greatly affects our planning.
