We had another great day in the sun. A lot of the sun today came in the liquid form, but the water in the pool and at the beach stayed wet even through the rain.

After dinner we worshipped God.

Some of the Onward guys presented a skit on faith and doing what God has called us to do even when it doesn’t make sense to us and we cannot see how it will possibly be accomplished.

The Family von Dollar sang for us.

A Worthy Call - Jeremiah 1:4-10
William Carey seemed to be an ordinary guy. He wasn’t even a good enough preacher for his church to be willing to ordain him. But he had an amazing ability with languages. He heard the call to missions. There were no mission organizations or structure to go to missions. It took 7 years to win the first convert to Christ. He knew that God had called him and that he would equip him

3 calls in the Bible
1. The call of the soul:
a. 1John3:14 - death to life,
b. Gal 5:14 - bondage to liberty,
c. 1Corinthians 1:9 called into fellowship with his son The first and greatest call is the call to a relationship with God.
2. Call of the body of Christ:
a. Matt 28 Go to the world and make disciples,
b. 1Corinthians 12, Romans 12, 1Peter 4 - serve in church
3. Call of individuals: God shows you one door at a time. Our job is to look for that door and go through it.

Three things that tell us that we are called to a unique form of ministry:
1. The call comes from a foundation of God’s word Jeremiah 1:4 “The word of the Lord came to me.” Calls are consistent with God’s word. You will get a sure confirmation from the Bible. Emotions may accompany the call, but the call’s foundation is God’s word.
The call is a call to service.
What are the reasons that you shouldn’t go into a ministry?
a. Ambition – to be noticed, to make a difference
b. Confidence that you will be good at it
c. Compassion to help hurting people
d. Good at public speaking
e. Cannot do anything else
f. It will make someone happy
g. The ONLY reason to go into ministry is because God has called you.
2. A sure call is formed from God’s loving heart. Jeremiah 1:5 God doesn’t want you to be miserable, but to be filled. You can only be fulfilled through your God calling. Your obedience is the only thing that matters. You will be passionate about God’s calling. That doesn’t mean you are good at it, but you are consumed by it. With every call is a call to character. Integrity is always part of the call. You may not understand the call because your integrity is lacking.
3. A sure call is formed in God’s faithful promises. Jeremiah 1:6. If God is going to build tall, he is going to dig deep. We will never be adequate in ourselves to meet our call. God will equip us.

What does it take to get into your ministry? FAITH.

Has God put a passion in your heart that you just cannot get rid of?
Is God calling you to go to a short term mission trip?
Has God called you to a unique, special, powerful ministry and if so, have you answered?
