Tuesday

OK, breakfast wasn’t nearly as good as dinner last night, but it was very edible. We enjoyed fellowshipping around the breakfast table.

We then spent some quiet time with God studying Matthew 22:36.

Then it was praise time with James Dollar and The Narrow Gate. Here are some pictures of the kids during a very active song.

Bro.Micah Emery from Westview Baptist Church in Hawkinsville presented our morning Bible Study.

Bro. Micah taught us about loving “the Lord your God with all your…soul”
Start by looking at background verses Matthew 22:34-36. When the religious leaders asked Jesus what the greatest commandment was, Jesus went back to a commandment that was taught to Jewish children as one of their earliest basic truths – “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

When we think of loving God with all your soul, we can think of David. He was truly passionate about God. We’ve got to get to that point, to do it takes REGENERATION.
Regeneration means you are a brand new creation (the old things are gone, behold all things have become new!)

We have to give our entire life to God. We cannot change ourselves; only God can change us, we just have to allow God to make that change in our life. Repent and turn to God just like David did when he messed up and was fully convicted of his sinfulness and separation from God. He wanted God to grant him a willing spirit to follow God. Only through God can we get a spirit willing to follow God, but he is more than willing to give us that spirit.

Is there a change in your life, is there conviction, and do you have a desire to see sinners saved? These are indicators of our Christianity.

After a short break we started our morning worship service with some music from The Narrow Gate and James Dollar. We left out pictures of very vital components of the Narrow Gate in yesterday's pictures. So here are Brooke, Shayla, Allison, and Deanna (who keeps our words straight.)

Notes from Worship Service

Emir Caner Luke 24: 13-27
CAN THE BIBLE BE TRUSTED? (How do I know what I know?)
For faith to be faith it has to be difficult. God will not answer every question, we have to trust Him. Faith is exercised here on earth. We won’t meet Jesus in Heaven and say, “Jesus, I believe in you.”
If the bible can’t be trusted, nothing can.

Postmodernism teaches that there is no absolute truth, but everyone really knows that there are absolute truths.
85% of students in evangelical seminary admit that they don’t believe that the Bible is absolutely true.

Compare Bible to other ancient books:
1. Homer’s Iliad: 643 manuscripts, 400 years from original to the first manuscript, some portions are completely missing.
2. Koran: went through a major purge 3 leaders after Mohammad to get rid of all contradictory copies.
3. Bible: 25,000 manuscripts, 30 years from original to first surviving copy, 99+% agreement in manuscripts, none of the Bible has been lost.

Our world now have the Wal-Mart Jesus. You can pick and choose your own version of Jesus, but the Bible doesn’t teach that.

The two important questions for each of us: Is there a God? Did he speak?

Why would anyone reject the Bible?
1. Misplaced authority: God allows you to work through your difficulties.
If all you know comes from what you think, you are very limited. God through the Bible is our true authority.

2. Misplaced anticipation: See verse 21 “but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel.” We don’t believe the Bible because we don’t like what it says. We want to do what we want to do and the Bible is there to spoil our fun.
The Emmaus disciples wanted Jesus to set up a kingdom and whip the Romans – he had disappointed them. Jesus said they were “slow of heart”

3. Misplaced Absolute: Don’t believe there is anything such as absolute truth or absolute revelation.
Prophecy: no other religious books contain prophecy, and especially don’t contain prophesy that is ALWAYS correct. Prophesy answers the question of did God speak.
60 prophecies dealing with Messiah’s birth, ALL of them came true. So yes he speaks. He speaks accurately and clearly.

Why do you believe the Bible? Because Jesus did!! Jesus said (In Matthew 5:17-18) no portion of the Bible will be broken, it will last forever,
Jesus validated the Old Testament and gave the disciples the authority to write the New Testament

Now it is our turn – what will we do with the Bible? Will we pay lip service to the importance of the scripture, or will we demonstrate heart service; read it, hide it in our hearts, and let it be the sole source of authority in what we believe AND act.

After a good lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers (and more good lunch fellowship)

we headed for the beach, pool, putt-putt, rest, etc. Check out the Tuesday PM link for more pictures of the greatest kids around.
